Sharonrose Cannistraci is a business and church lawyer who has been advising churches and ministries for 20 years. She was a principal in the law firm of Bicknell, Sweet, Cannistraci & Battel in Campbell, California, and now runs her own practice, Cannistraci Law Firm, in downtown San Jose. She received her Juris Doctorate law degree from the University of Santa Clara School of Law in 1985, and received her  certificate in Risk Management for Churches and Schools in 2003 from the University of Cambridge in England. Ms. Cannistraci is a Christian attorney who is dedicated to building and protecting churches throughout the state. Churches consult her on a variety of legal issues, including real estate and construction transactions, liability issues and litigation disputes.

Few attorneys have the knowledge or experience that Ms. Cannistraci has regarding church government and administration. Like the sons and daughters of Aaron, Ms. Cannistraci was born into the faith and was raised in the church. She is descended from two generations of ministers on both sides of her family. Her father is an internationally respected Apostle to churches and ministries throughout the world. Third generation family members pastor churches in California and Texas. Other members of her family serve as music ministers in northern and southern California and missionaries in foreign lands.

For many years, Ms. Cannistraci served as the music director and a worship leader in her home church, GateWay City Church (formerly Evangel Christian Fellowship), in San Jose, California, which was founded by her father, Dr. Emanuele Cannistraci, and is now pastored by her cousin, Dr. David Cannistraci who is a noted author. Ms. Cannistraci attended several years of bible school as a minister in training and continued her university biblical studies while completing her undergraduate education.

As a minister’s daughter, she knows first hand the types of legal problems and challenges that pastors face on a regular basis. She has a unique understanding of the internal workings of the church that enable her to give good counsel to church leaders.

Ms. Cannistraci has worked as an attorney for three of the largest law firms in the Bay Area as well as serving as a Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney earlier in her career. She has tried over 60 jury trials, court trials and arbitrations with an outstanding success rate.

Ms. Cannistraci has been a faculty member for Lorman Education Services in 2002-2003, educating architects, engineers and contractors regarding current trends in construction law.
